The Man In The Suit

You may have come across some news on social media (most likely TikTok or YouTube) that there was a man who acted as Godzilla in a movie back in 1954. It is stated that the man fell in love with the suit and decided to wear it often. One time during set, the actor was breathing oddly. The actor would then tell others to check on him to make sure he takes his suit off. At one point, a man opened the costume and saw that the actor was growing into the suit. This means that the suit was now his skin.

These videos/news you might have seen are definitely not true. Even if there were “proofs” (such as pictures), there was no actual evidence of the man’s deformed body shape. There were only pictures of the actor inside a godzilla suit and acting, or a man beside a godzilla suit. It was never indicated that a man grew into a godzilla suit. It is fiction. Don’t believe in whatever you see directly, do more research and find evidence that it is true.

Back in 1954, there was a movie that was released called “Godzilla” (otherwise, also known as “Gojira” or “ゴジラ”). This movie was most likely the reference to the fictional story where a man gets trapped in the godzilla suit. The actual movie was directed and co-written by Ishirō Honda. There were multiple film stars who were playing in the movie, one of them called Haruo Nakajima. Haruo Nakajima was known for being a stuntman. 

Haruo Nakajima was placed in the role of godzilla. He wore a suit of godzilla that was made from ready-mixed concrete, making it heavy for the actor when moving around and such. In interviews, Nakajima said that he would lose weight due to sweating during the filming process. Furthermore, the suits did not provide much flexibility, making it harder to perform certain actions and stunts. Despite the difficulties, Nakajima's commitment to his role contributed significantly to the success of the Godzilla franchise, and his work is highly respected by fans of the series.
