Indonesia's 2024 Presidential elections-A recap

It is an extremely well known fact that Indonesia has just finished hosting its public elections-including presidential elections as well as general elections. Although in this article we would be talking about the presidential elections only. Elections were held on 12 February 2024 in numerous voting stations spread out in every district in the country. With a total of 823,220 voting stations, the KPU(Komisi Pemilihan Umum) managed to accumulate a total amount of 204,807,222 votes from all throughout the country.
Now here is the question everyone is scrambling in their seats to answer: Who is the winner? In accordance with KPU's third law and regulation set in 2022, the results of both presidential elections and general elections are to be announced 35 days after the time of election. Therefore, we do not have a clear answer on who the victors are for this year's elections. Although not final, so far the KPU has managed to recap votes from 21 provinces-in which the second candidate, Prabowo Subianto and his running partner, Gibran Rakabuming has managed to sweep majority of the votes. Followed by first candidate, Anies Baswedan and his running partner, Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar-sometimes referred to as Cak Imin. In last place, third candidate Ganjar Pranowo and his running partner, Mahfud MD.
Public outlook on this matter is mixed, although the majority seems unsurprised with the results. This is unsurprising seeing as this is Prabowo Subianto's third time running, and he was an extremely respected general in the Indonesian military force. As for Gibran Rakabuming, he is the eldest son of current president Joko Widodo-who is popular among his citizens. Although not all are happy with this recap, claiming the success of the second candidate to be the fruit of nepotism. This statement has been denied by the KPU, although a lot of rumors and speculations still roam around the country.
This wraps up our recap today, let us all wish for a smooth and successful election until the very end. See you again in Indonesia's 2029 Presidential elections-A recap.
